GETTING STARTED

Build a clean
first chart.

A five-step setup path

Choose by question, begin at default, and learn what must confirm before adding more context. This path is designed for first use—not for prescribing a trading system.

Start the setup path ↓

FIRST USE

From question to configured chart.

Five deliberate moves take you from a chart question to a configuration you can explain, repeat, and rebuild.

  1. 01
    Decide

    Choose the chart question

Use the Indicator Finder to select the one script that most directly answers your current question. Structure, session, imbalance, pivot, cross-asset, volume-profile, anchored-average, and range context are different jobs.

    Find the right indicator →
  2. 02
    Open

    Open the TradingView publication

Follow the TradingView link from this site and read the publication description. For directly available scripts, use TradingView’s “Use on chart” action. Session Gap Map and Auto Harmonic Patterns Pro HTF are free invite-only: privately message AuctionFoundry saying “SGAP access” for Session Gap Map, or “AHPP access” with your TradingView username for Auto Harmonic Patterns Pro HTF, then wait for the author to grant access. Once granted, find it under Indicators → Invite-only.

  3. 03
    Baseline

    Run the fresh-install defaults

Start with one symbol and one timeframe you understand. Let the default output form before changing multiple inputs; this gives you a clean baseline for comparison.

    Open documented defaults →
  4. 04
    Interpret

    Read states before colors

Use the indicator reference to learn confirmation timing, lifecycle states, unavailable conditions, and what the output cannot establish. A plotted level is context, not an instruction.

    Read the manual limits →
  5. 05
    Lock the setup

Create alerts from the final setup

TradingView alerts retain the indicator settings used when the alert was created. If you change an indicator input later, recreate the alert so its configuration matches the chart.

    Set up TradingView alerts ↗

BASELINE CHECKLIST

Record what can change the output.

Before interpreting a chart or reporting a defect, capture the configuration that produced it.

01

Symbol and venue

Record the full ticker, exchange, contract month when relevant, and whether the chart uses regular or extended session data.

02

Chart timeframe

Confirmation timing, opening windows, higher-timeframe requests, and paired return coverage all depend on the selected interval.

03

Indicator inputs

Save the preset, session, time zone, requested timeframes, formula, and any custom geometry that differs from default.

04

Data availability

Check for shortened history, unavailable instruments, sparse shared timestamps, holidays, and session gaps before assuming the script failed.

05

Alert version

Record when the alert was created and recreate it after input changes so the alert snapshot matches the current chart.

06

Observed bar

Capture the chart time, whether the bar was confirmed, and a screenshot that includes the indicator name and visible state.
