INDICATOR MANUAL

Pivot point test counter indicatorPivot Scoreboard [AFD] · full manual · published to TradingView

Draw one completed-period pivot ladder and keep a confirmed-bar record of how often each level was tested, held, or broken during the current anchor period.

What the indicator does, the questions it can help answer, and its fresh-install defaults.

Pivot Scoreboard draws one pivot ladder and standard Central Pivot Range from the prior completed anchor period. It does not compare packs or calculate cross-formula confluence; its job is to keep the interaction history for one selected ladder.

A test begins when a confirmed bar reaches a level that the previous confirmed bar did not. A bar that remains on the level for several bars therefore counts once rather than once per bar. The outcome is Held when the testing bar closes back on the side it approached from and Broke when it closes through.

Each visible level label carries its running test count, while the card shows tests and the held/broke split for R1, PP, S1, TC, and BC. Counts reset when a new anchor period replaces the ladder. The secondary Now row reports current location without turning the history into a forecast.

How it works

How the indicator turns chart data into the states and drawings you see.

One completed-period ladder

Auto or an explicit Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly anchor supplies prior completed high, low, and close. The anchor must be strictly above the chart timeframe; the current developing anchor never supplies the ladder.

Nine pivot methods

Floor Pivots, Fibonacci, Woodie, Classic, DM, Camarilla, Frank Dilernia, Shadow Trader, and ACD Method change the R/S ladder. CPR stays on the standard floor-pivot basis, and Shadow Trader draws the same R/S geometry as Floor Pivots.

Core and Extended depth

Core shows R1, S1, PP, and CPR. Extended adds every further tier the selected method defines. The five-state location read always uses R1, CPR, and S1, while the scoreboard tracks every level currently drawn.

Leading-edge tests

A confirmed bar starts a test when its high-low range reaches a level and the prior confirmed bar did not. Remaining in contact does not repeatedly increase the count; leaving and later returning begins another test.

Held and broke outcomes

Held means the testing bar closed back on the side from which it approached. Broke means it closed through the level. These are descriptive labels for the completed test bar, not quality scores or probabilities.

Period reset

All per-level test, held, and broke counts reset when the anchor rolls and the new completed-period ladder replaces the old one. The tally is deliberately limited to the current anchor period.

Scoreboard and location

The card leads with core-level tallies in Tests (held/broke) form. The Now row is secondary and names Above R1, Between CPR and R1, Inside CPR, Between S1 and CPR, or Below S1, plus how many bars the state has held.

Current period only

Added in the August 21, 2026 update and off by default. On, only the anchor period still in progress draws its levels, fields, glow, and markers, so history stays clear of completed ladders. After a rollover during a live session the finished period’s lines remain on screen until the chart next refreshes.

Display controls do not gate events

Crossing markers change dots only. Label, glow, shading, active-zone, current-period, and card controls change presentation. The five event conditions continue to evaluate on confirmed bars from the configured ladder.

Alerts and limitations

What can notify you, what can change the output, and what the indicator cannot establish.

5 fixed alert conditions

Pivot Scoreboard 1 · CPR Entry

The confirmed close entered the CPR.

Pivot Scoreboard 2 · CPR Exit Upper

The confirmed close exited the CPR through its upper boundary.

Pivot Scoreboard 3 · CPR Exit Lower

The confirmed close exited the CPR through its lower boundary.

Pivot Scoreboard 4 · First R1 Test

The first confirmed R1 test of a fully observed anchor period occurred.

Pivot Scoreboard 5 · First S1 Test

The first confirmed S1 test of a fully observed anchor period occurred.

Limits to keep visible

  • Test, held, and broke counts describe completed chart history. They do not estimate the probability, strength, reliability, or expected outcome of a future interaction.
  • The repository records the standard offset-plus-lookahead design, but a replay-and-reload observation was not completed for the published build. This manual therefore makes no blanket non-repainting claim.
  • The selected anchor must be strictly above the chart timeframe. Yearly is the highest choice, so charts at or above twelve months have no valid anchor.
  • The script rejects Heikin Ashi, Renko, Kagi, Point & Figure, Range, Line Break, and other non-standard chart types because test outcomes use chart OHLC.
  • The ladder follows the symbol’s exchange-default feed. There is no separate RTH/ETH override, and daily versus intraday data can differ around sessions and settlements.
  • Core-level location always uses R1, CPR, and S1. R2 and S2 are display and scoreboard levels in Extended mode, not extra location states.
  • Counts reset at each anchor rollover and do not preserve a multi-period statistical sample. Loaded history can begin partway through a period, so first-test alerts wait for one fully observed anchor.
  • The active-zone box renders over candles unless the indicator is sent behind price in TradingView’s visual order. DM and ACD Method have no R2/S2, so their outer zones have no second boundary for that fill.

Troubleshooting

Start with what you see on the chart. Each answer explains the likely cause and the first setting, timeframe, or data condition to check.

Why does the indicator show an anchor or chart-type error instead of levels?

First check the chart type and timeframe. Use standard time-based candles, then choose an anchor strictly above the chart timeframe. Auto is the safest starting point; a twelve-month-or-higher chart has no valid anchor available.

Why did a level stay touched for several bars but count only once?

The scoreboard counts the leading edge of a test. A bar must reach a level when the prior confirmed bar did not. Several consecutive bars hugging the same level remain one test until price leaves and later returns.

Why does a test say Held or Broke differently from how I read the next candle?

The outcome belongs to the confirmed bar that started the test. Held means that bar closed back on its approach side; Broke means it closed through. Later candles can do something different without rewriting the recorded test.

Why did every count return to zero?

A new anchor period created a new ladder from the period that just completed. The scoreboard intentionally resets with that rollover so every tally belongs to the currently drawn levels.

Why does the card show only five scored levels while Extended draws more?

The compact card reserves rows for R1, PP, S1, TC, and BC. Every visible Extended level still carries its own ·N count on the chart label, but the card does not expand with the full ladder.

Why is there no active-zone glow above R1 or below S1?

The outer glow needs the next tier as a boundary. DM and ACD Method stop at R1/S1, so those outer zones cannot form a bounded fill. The lines, labels, counts, card, and alerts still work.

Why are alerts still available after I turn Crossing markers off?

Crossing markers control chart dots only. They do not disable event calculation or the five fixed alert conditions. Remove or recreate the TradingView alert itself if you no longer want it running.

Why is a running alert using my previous formula or anchor?

TradingView saved the symbol, timeframe, and indicator inputs when the alert was created. Delete it and create a new alert after changing Anchor, Pivot formula, Map depth, or any other setup value.

Why are the previous period’s lines still drawn with Current period only turned on?

Bars already painted are not redrawn when the anchor rolls over during a live session, so the finished period keeps the lines it was given. Refresh the chart and only the period in progress remains. Counts, events, and alerts are unaffected either way.
